Movie Interrupted

I've discovered a recent trend that is driving my crazy. It seems to be occurring more and more often, and it leaves me to wonder "What are they thinking?!"

Some things just go together, like peanut butter and jelly, or peanut butter and chocolate ( ok like peanut butter and anything in my opinion!).

Other things do not go so well together. IE my hair and humidity. Or, babies and movies.

I've gone to a couple of movies recently, and can't help but notice parents bringing in babies or young children. And no, I’m not seeing children's movies. I went to see Angels and Demons on Saturday. During several key suspenseful parts, we were interrupted by loud wails and cries of un happy babies.

I went to another movie a couple of weeks ago at like 10:30pm and there was a bunch of babies in there too! Okay so they start off sleeping, but eventually they wake up in the middle of the movie and are not happy!

I've been to a movie where a very un restrained toddler ran up and down the aisles the whole time. What the heck?

Last time I checked, the movie theater is not a babysitter.

There are 100 commercials advising you to turn down your cell phones because when they ring in the middle of the movie it ruins it for everyone. Well a crying baby has the same affect!

Granted, I do not have children. So I don't know the feeling of not being able to find a babysitter. And if you bring your babies/young children to the movies and they sit there quietly, then by all means continue to do so! But I'm thinking them sitting quietly through a loud action packed movie does not happen too much.

I can't help but feel bad for the Mom who has to truck her baby in and out of the movie every time it cries. That mom had to pay $10+ to see that movie! And, well she is not really seeing it. She has to get up and down and leave the theater constantly.

Not really a well spent $10 if you ask me!

I TOTALLY agree with you!!!!!!!!!! I just find it rude when parents bring babies or young children to a movie (especially if it is late at night or an adult movie.) If it is a kid movie, I understand. However, Number 1:your kid should be in bed that late. Number 2: It is part of being a parent, if you cant get a babysitter, be responsible and take care of your own kid and don't be rude to other people who have paid money to see a movie and not be interrupted by crying babies! If they wanted that, they would have rented a movie and watched it at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Part of being a parent is not always being able to go out every second you want to...it is taking care of the needs of your child first! No kid needs to be at a adult movie at 10 at night!

I agree with both of you. I hate when Scott and I would go to wal-mart or some other store later at night and see a lady with her 5 kids in pjs while she grocery shops at like 10 or later. The movie thing is such a joke too! I remember going to see the ring 2 and some lady brought her baby in. so lame! If you want kids and want to be a parent, act like it! You have to make sacrifices. If you can't get a sitter then don't go! Luckily I'm poor so I can't remember the last movie I went to... we redbox it a lot! Why don't more people do that?

Lol - this post and the comments just make me smile. I probably would be a mom that would attempt to go see a movie with my kids...but then again I only see kids movies so maybe that doesn't count. I am not a fan of the really late night outings with cranky children and feel bad for parents who feel they need to do that. Maybe they should make a new notice at the beginning reminding parents to remove their noisey children....like they do at church in Relief Society in my ward - nice huh?!

Totally! How annoying is a crying baby in a movie! People are stuipd. When I'm at Wal-Mart after 10pm I play a game I call Nino Counting.
