I need some help here. I find myself constantly reading these dark twisted action packed books. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
I love a good James Patterson thriller as much as the next person. But I just finished reading "Mockingjay", the final book in the Hunger Games series and I'm so depressed.
Did I mention I finished that book 3 days ago?
Yeah. Not that it ended terribly, but to me it didn't end well enough and now I'm left with this sad empty feeling. So, I really need a break from these dark and dreary people killing each other books. I could use a nice girly book.
Anyone have any recommendations? I find myself constantly buying girly books and having them be crap. So I'm hesitant to throw $13 or so away on a book that will depress me even more with it's ho hum characters and sappy un realistic plot.
I'm open to suggestions!
Waiting for James to arrive!

I am not a big reader, so I wont be much help here! However, have you thought about going to the library to check out a book instead of forking over money for a book that ends up being crap?
yeah, I'm not a reader either but the library is free which is good. Everyone out here goes to the library. Sometimes you can even rent cds and movies from libraries too! Just depends on the library.
I think I have to go out of Simi then.I've looked in our Library and it was terrible! I couldn't believe the lack of books. Girly ones atleast.Maybe I'll try again though, good idea ladies! :)
The Secret Life of Bees
The Condition
Time Traveler's Wife
The Secret Garden
Sorry... I can't remember other titles at the moment...
Rachel Anderson
Any book by Jodi Picoult is good. My favorite is Plain Truth. They are usually courtroom mysteries (but not always), and not really dark ones.
Or you can use my preferred method for choosing a library book. I walk around in the fiction section and pick books with pink and purple covers. LOL Always a good girly read! LOL
Oh my gosh yes, what was I thinking!?!? Jodi Piccoult is ALWAYS a good pick.
Liz, try the TO library and I hear Camarillo is also really good. Maybe make a trip out to the outlet malls then head over to the library.
Go to goodreads.com and friend me I have a list of great ones I have read.
I always love the classics. Jane Austin all the way. I love all the books and they are not depressing and quite funny.
I also love love love tha Anne of Green Gables series and its 8 boods so that will last a while. They have it at the Simi Library. (Really, I love it a lot it makes me happy)
